Today, Sherman Pole Buildings has over 25 employees specializing in building design and construction. Our crews erect over 300 buildings each year and our lumber sales department packages an additional 300+ buildings for do-it-yourselfers and independent contractors. Here’s how it all started…
The year was 1976. A farmer named Andrew Kelling started building pole buildings and dairy barns. Then, as now, the structural code for agricultural buildings wasn’t as high as for residential buildings.
This puzzled Andrew. Mind you, he is a man who takes work seriously and life lightly. But this business made him mad. “The snow that falls on a barn doesn’t weigh any less than the snow that falls on a house,” he reasoned. “And the stuff inside a barn is just as valuble, if not more so, than the stuff inside a house. So why should a barn be built weaker?”
Before coming up with any more annoying questions, he decided to set things right by building his ag buildings up to residential code, even if that meant overbuilding them.
It’s a decision he’s never regretted. Over the years, Andrew’s construction company grew and even changed its name to Sherman Lumber Inc.
Meanwhile, Andrew’s dedication to quality and craftsmanship have remained steadfast. “Craftsmanship and understanding the customers’ needs–that’s how we add value to our buildings,” he says. “Knowing we build our buildings right helps a guy get to sleep at night.”
Following those standards allows us to offer a 30-year structural integrity warranty and a 10-year workmanship warranty on every building we build. Including yours.
Which brings us to one more standard we work to exceed: Yours. We want you to be more than satisfied with your Sherman building. We put more into it so you can put more into it.
