The Collection

About the Signature Series

The Signature Series is Sherman’s curated collection of popular post-frame home designs, organized into three exterior styles with three floor plans each — nine ready-to-customize configurations in total. Each plan pairs an efficient, functional floor plan with a finished look that feels at home on a rural Minnesota lot, a wooded Northwest Wisconsin property, or an in-town parcel.

Post-frame construction means wide, clear-span interiors and open floor plans without interior load-bearing walls. That makes Signature Series homes easy to personalize: move a wall, widen a great room, combine bedrooms into a primary suite, or add a shop or garage wing without fighting the structure. Steel exteriors keep long-term maintenance low, and deep-cavity walls accept modern insulation assemblies that hold up to upper-Midwest winters.

Every home is finished on a permanent foundation — basement, crawlspace, or slab — and built to meet or exceed state and local building codes. Because Sherman has been building in Minnesota since 1976, we handle the surrounding details too: site preparation guidance, foundation coordination, and optional detached shops, garages, or auxiliary structures on the same build.

Make It Yours

How Customization Works

Every Signature Series plan is a starting point. After selecting a style and floor plan, you’ll work directly with Sherman to finalize the details — exterior palette, interior finishes, and mechanical packages.

Exterior

Exterior selections typically include:

  • Steel wall and roof colors (Bright White, Ivory, Light Stone, Mocha Tan, Carlsbad Canyon, Taupe, Brown, Burnished Slate, and more)
  • Stone or board-and-batten accents on entries and gables
  • Window, door, and garage door packages
  • Porch and patio configurations

Interior

Interior selections typically include:

  • Flooring: luxury vinyl plank, tile, or carpet
  • Cabinetry style, color, and hardware
  • Countertops: laminate, quartz, or solid surface
  • Plumbing and lighting fixture packages
  • Wall layout adjustments — open-concept modifications, bedroom combinations, primary suite expansions
Post-Frame Advantage

Because post-frame construction uses exterior bearing walls, most interior walls are non-load-bearing. That means they can be moved or removed without structural redesign — which keeps customization costs down without compromising the build.

Build Packages

Envelope, Craftsman, or Turnkey

Sherman offers three levels of completion so you can match the project to your budget, timeline, and how much work you want to do yourself.

Tier 01

Envelope

Weather-tight shell

The weather-tight shell: post-frame structure, steel roof and walls, exterior doors and windows installed. You finish the interior yourself or hire your own trades.

Tier 02

Craftsman

Ready to finish

Envelope plus insulation, interior framing, drywall, and rough-in for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing. You handle final finishes — flooring, cabinets, paint, fixtures.

Tier 03

Turnkey

Move-in ready

Move-in ready. Sherman manages the full build through final finishes: flooring, cabinetry, countertops, trim, paint, appliances, and fixtures.

Common Questions

Signature Series Questions

Can I modify a Signature Series plan?

Yes. Every plan is designed to be adjusted. Move walls, change room sizes, expand the primary suite, add a shop or garage wing, or combine features from different plans. Our team will work with you to finalize a plan that fits your site and budget.

What foundation types are supported?

Signature Series homes are built on a permanent foundation: full basement, crawlspace, or monolithic/frost-protected slab. Sherman can help you decide which foundation fits your site, soil conditions, and budget.

How is a post-frame home different from a traditional stick-built home?

Post-frame construction uses larger engineered columns set on concrete piers or a foundation, rather than continuous stud walls on a poured wall. The result is wider clear spans, faster dry-in, deeper wall cavities for insulation, and fewer interior bearing walls — which means more flexible floor plans and easier future modifications.

Do Signature Series homes meet local building codes?

Yes. Every Signature Series home is engineered and built to meet or exceed state and local building codes in Minnesota and Northwest Wisconsin, including snow-load, wind, and energy-code requirements.

Can Sherman handle site prep and the foundation?

Sherman coordinates site-prep guidance and foundation work as part of the overall build, and can include detached shops, garages, or auxiliary structures on the same project. If you already have excavation or concrete contractors you prefer, we can work with them too.

How long does a Signature Series home take to build?

Timelines vary with site conditions, package level (Envelope/Craftsman/Turnkey), and permitting, but most Signature Series projects run several months from groundbreaking to completion. We’ll provide a project-specific schedule once your plan, site, and finish selections are confirmed.
